02 The course
You swim one calm rectangular loop of the Cher River, ride a genuinely flat and fast 180 km through Loire Valley vineyards and past the Château d'Ussé, then run three flat 14 km loops along the river, each one passing through a festive indoor finish-line arena before you commit to the next. Nothing about the terrain will slow you down. Whether you stay disciplined on a course built for speed is what decides the day.

03 Race plan
One job for each part of this course. The distance markers tell you when the job changes. The course tells you why.
Swim
A single rectangular loop in the calm Cher River gives a controlled opening. Settle into a pace you can hold for the full 3.8 km, not one you're chasing from the gun.
Bike
The course opens onto genuinely flat, fast roads past the Loire Valley's vineyards and landmarks. This is exactly where it's easiest to overspend on a course that lets you.
The middle of the ride passes the Château d'Ussé and more of the Touraine countryside. Hold your planned effort regardless of how easy the flat roads make it feel to go faster.
As the flat course closes back towards Tours, shift focus to the three-loop run ahead. Finish planned nutrition and let cadence rise before the indoor transition.
Run
The run leaves the indoor transition for the first of three 14 km loops along the Cher. Use this loop to convert bike legs into running legs, especially if the bike felt easier than planned.
Passing back through the finish-line arena without stopping is the hardest moment of this run. Use it as an honest checkpoint on loop one's effort before committing to loop three.
The final loop is where a disciplined bike and two honest run loops pay off. If the day has gone to plan, decide deliberately whether to push. If it hasn't, protect the finish.

05 Method

Confidence is built from four inputs
It starts with the targets in your Race Card, then samples the parts of a full distance that vary: open-water pace, transitions, bike speed at the planned power, and the drop in run performance after the swim and bike. Repeating that calculation produces a likely range rather than a single heroic number.
The current time calculation uses this race’s published distances, or standard full distance distances where none are published, with the available course headings, elevation and exposure evidence. Weather scenarios vary temperature, dew point, wind, gusts, rain and water conditions together. Unknown route detail stays visible as uncertainty rather than false precision.
It is not predicting your exact finishing time, placing, or race-day weather. It answers a narrower question: given the plan and the information we have, what range of day is plausible, and where is the uncertainty coming from?
Confidence is not a permanent “low”. It is recalculated across four separate inputs:
