IRONMAN 70.3 Aracaju-Sergipe.
Your best day in Aracaju.

Aracaju is not one tidy race village. You start at the Vaza-Barris estuary, ride three measured circuits and finish your work beside Atalaia Beach. A disciplined race here starts with knowing exactly where the two transitions are.

What could you race?

I’m Tom, the coach behind Sense Endurance Coaching. Tell me where you are now and I’ll show you what a strong day in Aracaju could look like.

Let’s build your race

Let’s build your race.

Your age and race category help me estimate where that performance could place you. They don’t determine how fast I think you can race.

Change units

Two transition sites. One race plan.

The 2026 regulations put T1 at Foz Vaza Barris and T2 near Atalaia. Between them sits a nominally flat three-lap bike course. You will have the chance to push earlier than is wise, but the half marathon along the shoreline will ask what that speed cost.

Foz Vaza Barris estuary

Swim with the river, not against your own plan

The Vaza-Barris estuary is not a pool lane. Sight your way towards the mapped exit and adjust to the water you actually meet on race morning.

Find estuary sightlines. Watch the exit.

Bike lap one, Aracaju

Set a pace you would gladly repeat

On the first of the reported three bike laps, find watts you would willingly repeat twice more. Starting a little too fast is hardest to hide on a repetitive route.

Repeat the same watts. Feed on every lap.

Bike laps two and three

Keep fuelling independent of the lap clock

Use the later lap to complete your fuel plan and prepare for T2 near Atalaia. A split-site event rewards athletes who know their bags and transfer routine.

Check final lap nutrition. Know T2 logistics.

Atalaia shoreline, opening run

Let the legs arrive before choosing speed

At Atalaia, let the first shoreline kilometres bring your running legs back. Coastal exposure can make early speed expensive, even after a flat-feeling ride.

Settle along Atalaia. Keep effort patient.

Atalaia shoreline, closing run

Protect form when coastal exposure catches up

The final Atalaia stretch is where you can commit. Until the last kilometres, stay relaxed enough to keep your form intact along the water.

Hold shoreline form. Commit near the finish.

What to check in race week

Confirm the 2026 estuary buoy course, any current and the exact exit. Arrange the separately located Foz Vaza Barris T1 and Atalaia T2, including any pre-purchased athlete shuttle, bags and early start transport. Check the official three-lap bike turn map and shoreline aid points rather than inventing their positions.

Make your finish prediction and I can send this plan to you in race week.

Build the legs.
Practise the decisions.

A finish range gives you something to work towards. The preparation is specific to this race: river sighting, steady repeated riding and the transfer between two transitions are rehearsed so none of them distracts from the half marathon.

I’m Tom. With Sense Endurance Coaching, I’ll build that preparation around your life, follow how you respond and adjust the work as you get closer to Aracaju.
