02 The course
You swim one calm loop in the Olympic Basin, ride a smooth, closed multi-lap course on the legendary Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, then run flat parkland past the site of the 1976 Olympic Games to a finish overlooked by the Biosphère. Every discipline here is about as controlled as triathlon gets. The only thing standing between you and a fast day is whether you ride the plan or ride the racetrack.

Swim
A calm, sheltered rowing basin gives you about as controlled a swim as exists in triathlon. Settle into rhythm early and use the still water to your advantage.
Bike
The smooth, closed Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve removes traffic and surface risk, but that same smoothness makes it tempting to ride faster than planned from the start.
Nothing about this circuit will slow you down, which is exactly why holding planned effort matters more here than on a harder course.
Run
The flat run through Parc Jean-Drapeau's Olympic parkland gives you an honest, low-technicality read on how the bike went. Use the first half to convert bike legs into running legs.

Your CSS, FTP, weight and run threshold create the first range. Open-water, bike, run and execution evidence can replace broad assumptions. Course data and the historical conditions baseline shape every simulation.
Confidence is built from four inputs
It starts with the targets in your Race Card, then samples the parts of a 70.3 that vary: open-water pace, transitions, bike speed at the planned power, and the drop in run performance after the swim and bike. Repeating that calculation produces a likely range rather than a single heroic number.
The current time calculation uses this race’s published distances, or standard 70.3 distances where none are published, with the available course headings, elevation and exposure evidence. Weather scenarios vary temperature, dew point, wind, gusts, rain and water conditions together. Unknown route detail stays visible as uncertainty rather than false precision.
It is not predicting your exact finishing time, placing, or race-day weather. It answers a narrower question: given the plan and the information we have, what range of day is plausible, and where is the uncertainty coming from?
Confidence is not a permanent “low”. It is recalculated across four separate inputs:
