02 The course
You swim two calm laps of the Weerwater by Almere's Kunstlinie theatre, ride two flat polder laps below sea level, then run a marathon built from an opening lap, four 10.1 km laps and a closing stretch through the city and past the lake. Nothing about the terrain will slow you down over 226.2 km combined. The wind on two bike laps and pacing a marathon built from repeated short loops are what decide whether that turns into a good day.

03 Race plan
One job for each part of this course. The distance markers tell you when the job changes. The course tells you why.
Swim
Two counterclockwise loops in calm city water give you a controllable opening to a long day. Hold the same effort on both loops rather than letting the second drift.
Bike
The course moves quickly from Lumierepark onto Flevoland's flat, open polder roads. This lap repeats, so ride it at a number you can hold twice, not once.
This course has almost no elevation to manage, so the wind across the open polder is effectively the entire bike variable, now for the second time. Keep the same effort whether it is helping or fighting you.

As the second lap closes back towards the city, stop chasing speed. Finish your planned nutrition and get the legs turning over before a run that puts you straight into noise.
Run
A short 900 m opening lap leaves Lumierepark straight into the crowd Challenge Family markets as making every finisher feel like a hero. Use it to convert bike legs into running legs, not to bank on the atmosphere.
The four main laps past the same lake and streets give you repeated, honest feedback on how the day is really going. Hold your planned pace through the first two rather than reacting to how you feel on any single lap.
If the first half of the run has gone to plan, decide deliberately whether to push through the final two laps. If it hasn't, protect the finish rather than forcing it.
The final 900 m stretch finishes on the Esplanade in front of the day's biggest crowd. Spend whatever you've held in reserve here, not before.

05 Method
Your CSS, FTP, weight and run threshold create the first range. Open-water, bike, run and execution evidence can replace broad assumptions. Course data and the historical conditions baseline shape every simulation.
Confidence is built from four inputs
It starts with the targets in your Race Card, then samples the parts of a full distance that vary: open-water pace, transitions, bike speed at the planned power, and the drop in run performance after the swim and bike. Repeating that calculation produces a likely range rather than a single heroic number.
The current time calculation uses this race’s published distances, or standard full distance distances where none are published, with the available course headings, elevation and exposure evidence. Weather scenarios vary temperature, dew point, wind, gusts, rain and water conditions together. Unknown route detail stays visible as uncertainty rather than false precision.
It is not predicting your exact finishing time, placing, or race-day weather. It answers a narrower question: given the plan and the information we have, what range of day is plausible, and where is the uncertainty coming from?
Confidence is not a permanent “low”. It is recalculated across four separate inputs:
